What’s on your bucket list? Don’t know if ziplining was ever on mine, but I do like to challenge myself to be brave. It leads to a happy life. Yet, I’m a bit of a wimp and quite particular. I like some things just right. Much of it has to do with they way things look. Guess that’s called ‘aesthetically pleasing’. I like things to be beautiful, that’s why I’m so troubled when nature gets trashed.
Courage is like a muscle. We strengthen it by use.

Be Brave Enough!
I love beautiful wild animals, amazing landscapes, breathtaking clouds and stunning sunsets. Pretty much anything nature rules in my book.
It was in one such pretty wild place in Swaziland (now called Eswatini) that we had a viable opportunity to go ziplining. We had the Malolotja Nature Reserve almost to ourselves. Can’t recall what kept the tourists and visitors away that year. One year it’s Ebola, another political unrest and then of course most recently the COVID-19 pandemic.
It was on our second or third day that we decided we would do it. We would go ziplining. It turns out it was the perfect place to do it. The scenery was wild and pristine. The two guides quiet and steady. The zip line itself? Well, the first run was not too far above the ground and through the trees. Easy Peasy! Perfect for beginners. And then, oh wow!
After that we zipped across the gorge. We zipped back, across again, then along the cliff. It was thrilling and spectacular. On top of that, it was just our two guides and us. Perfect for two hermits. No its not that we don’t do well in social settings. It’s just that we prefer to be out in nature. But that’s for another time.
On this day in 2016, we got brave enough to do something, as two elderly folk, that we’d not done before. Hurray for us.
Be Brave. Only Believe. Just Do.
